Hands stacked together in a circle – group therapy in Maleny, Sunshine Coast Hinterland

You Are Not Alone

Many people come to group therapy feeling isolated, overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious or unsure of where they belong. Groups can gently remind us that we are not alone. Through shared experiences, meaningful connection and supportive reflection, new awareness and change can begin to emerge.

I offer two different types of groups:

Group one

Gestalt Therapy & Process Groups

Gestalt process groups offer a deeper therapeutic space for self-exploration, emotional awareness and relational healing. These groups are grounded in Gestalt Psychotherapy, a holistic and relational approach that focuses on present-moment awareness, authentic connection and understanding how we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us.

In a process group, we explore what is happening in the “here and now” — thoughts, emotions, body sensations, patterns, reactions and relational dynamics. Group members are invited to become more aware of their experiences in a safe and supportive environment.

These groups can support people experiencing:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm
  • Depression or emotional numbness
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Trauma and nervous system dysregulation
  • Grief and loss
  • Low self-esteem or disconnection
  • Difficulty expressing needs or emotions
  • A longing for deeper connection and authenticity

How it works

A Gentle, Trauma-Aware Group Process

The group process unfolds gently and collaboratively. There is no pressure to share beyond your capacity. Members are encouraged to move at their own pace while being supported with care, curiosity and respect.

As a PACFA-registered counsellor and Gestalt psychotherapist, I facilitate groups with a trauma-aware, relational and body-oriented approach. I pay close attention to safety, group dynamics, nervous system regulation and creating a supportive environment where people can feel grounded and included.

An initial consultation or interview is required before joining a therapy/process group to ensure the group is the right fit for your needs and readiness.

Gestalt group therapy can help you

  • Develop greater self-awareness
  • Build healthier relationships and boundaries
  • Increase emotional regulation and nervous system awareness
  • Explore patterns that may no longer be serving you
  • Feel seen, heard and supported in community
  • Strengthen your sense of self
  • Practise authentic communication and connection
  • Deepen understanding of your emotional and relational world

Why group work

Benefits of Group Therapy

Group therapy can be deeply healing because it allows us to experience ourselves in relationship with others. Many people find that healing happens not only through insight, but through connection, support and being witnessed by others.

  • Increased self-awareness
  • Reduced isolation and loneliness
  • Learning through shared experiences
  • Improved communication and relational skills
  • Emotional support and validation
  • Opportunities for personal growth and reflection
  • Greater confidence and sense of belonging
  • Building healthier boundaries and connection
  • Nervous system regulation through safe relationships

Groups can offer a sense of community and shared humanity that individual therapy alone may not provide.

Not about “fixing” yourself

These groups are not about “fixing” yourself. They are about creating space for authenticity, support, compassion and connection. The atmosphere of these groups is warm, welcoming and inclusive. I aim to create spaces where women feel safe enough to show up as they are, without pressure or judgement.
